Brigitte Gabriel, founder of ACT for America, has expressed criticism on the social media platform X regarding a Senate vote in which 21 Republican senators supported continued taxpayer funding for refugees. This decision comes despite recent revelations of fraud within Minnesota’s Somali community.
“What are Republicans in the House and Senate doing right now,” said Gabriel, Founder and Chairman. “21 GOP Senators voted to keep sending our tax dollars to refugees. The Somali fraud exposed what is happening and instead of shutting down the fraud, RINOs helped Democrats keep it going. I am sick to my stomach.”
According to Gabriel, she criticized the Senate’s decision on an amendment aimed at ending welfare for non-citizens. She highlighted that 21 GOP senators sided with Democrats to maintain refugee funding and linked this decision to ongoing Somali fraud cases in Minnesota. Her post included an image showing the roll call votes.
Federal prosecutors have charged numerous individuals in Minnesota related to fraud schemes where members of the Somali diaspora allegedly created shell companies to bill for nonexistent child nutrition services during the pandemic. The convictions have reached 59 people, with stolen funds surpassing one billion dollars from taxpayers. Some of these proceeds were reportedly used for lavish lifestyles and sent overseas.
The House Oversight Committee has expanded its investigation into significant fraud within Minnesota’s social services programs. It is estimated that criminals stole $9 billion from programs intended for child feeding, autism support, housing, and Medicaid under Governor Walz’s administration. There are concerns that some funds may have been diverted to terrorist networks overseas.
Nearly 100 individuals, primarily Somali immigrants, face charges in Minnesota’s welfare fraud scandal involving child care subsidies and other entitlements. Fraudsters allegedly used nonprofits to claim reimbursements for fictitious services, resulting in billions lost from taxpayer money. Broader investigations suggest that half of the billed funds were fraudulent.
Gabriel is a survivor of terrorism in Lebanon and founded ACT for America to address national security threats. She is also an author of New York Times best-selling books and serves as a commentator on issues such as radical Islam. Gabriel advocates for policies aimed at protecting American interests.
