Sen. Bruce Anderson (R-Buffalo) saluted Gov. Tim Walz’s decision to issue the entire $841 million from CARES (Coronavirus, Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act into local organizations and businesses, according to the Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus

Anderson agreed with the act, stating that it was needed to help local areas move forward amid the COVID-19 crisis.

“Communities across Minnesota need access to these federal funds as we work to rebuild,” Anderson said, according to the Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus. “I am grateful that the Governor utilized the fair distribution formula developed by the legislature. It will ensure that every city and every county will receive equal access to this vital funding as they begin to recover from the pandemic.”

The amount that each city, county and town will receive will be based on its size.

The federal government has issued Minnesota more than $2 billion to help fund local governments and health industries navigate through the pandemic.
