After Congressman Dean Phillips pledged not to finance his own campaign in 2018, he used $1.3 million of his own money to invest in his campaign.

Over the course of his campaigns, Phillips has continually given to his campaigns from his own bank, according to a press release from the Republican Party of Minnesota

“In 2018 Democratic Congressman Dean Phillips pledged not to finance his own campaign and then spent $1.3 million to buy himself a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives," Minnesota GOP said in the press release. "Since that election, Rep. Phillips has told voters he’s intent on getting big money out of politics and refused to take PAC money.  However, Phillips is a big money donor himself and has taken money from PAC’s. Dean Phillips can self-fund his political ambitions and take money from PACs if he wants to, but he should at least be honest about it with the people in Minnesota’s Third Congressional District. Maple Grove, Edina, Eden Prairie and Plymouth moms don’t like it when politicians are disingenuous.”
