Learn about the first people of Bloomington and the Minnesota River Valley

In honor of the Dakota, the first people of Bloomington and the Minnesota River Valley, adults and youth of all backgrounds are invited to the 12th annual Dakota Language Camp for an interactive introduction to Dakota language, culture, values and traditions Tuesday – Thursday,

June 27 – 29, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., at Pond Dakota Mission Park, 401 East 104th Street. Learn about Dakota culture and how it is rooted in the land through traditional games, crafts, songs, dancing, food, nature walks and more.

The language camp costs $50. Lunch is provided. Children under age seven must be accompanied by an adult or teen sibling who is also enrolled in the camp. Register at blm.mn/webtrac.

The Dakota Language Camp is collaboratively presented by Bloomington Parks and Recreation and the University of Minnesota Dakota Language Department, which creates the program and provides experienced teachers.
