How did Bloomington Public School District students do on 2021-22 MCA and MTAS Reading tests?

Bloomington Public School District ranked sixth in the Hennepin County for test participation, with 4,623 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Bloomington Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 36.4% over the previous year.

Bloomington Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 49% in 2021-22 school year.

10th-grade students stood out with 22% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, eighth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 41% not meeting the expected standards.

Bloomington Public School District encompasses schools within Hennepin County and has a main office in Bloomington.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
