City of Excelsior issued the following announcement on Oct. 5.
The City of Excelsior will be conducting a Water Street tree replacement project in the Fall of 2020. You are receiving this letter because your property is in proximity to where tree removals and replacements will occur. Attached is a map indicating three trees to be removed. We anticipate tree removals to occur in the next couple weeks followed by the commencement of the project.
The date the removals occur will be communicated prior to the work being completed. The Water Street tree replacement project will replace diseased and dying trees, install new sidewalks around the trees, reinstall electrical outlets, install structural soils for the tree to grow downward as opposed to heaving the sidewalk, and add trees in certain areas where we don’t have existing trees.
A Water Street Tree Committee was tasked with determining the scope of the Water Street Tree project and it was approved by the City Council in October of 2019.
