State Senate Republicans passed a bill that involves tax, bonding and budget provisions, shelling out millions for many projects, according to a Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus news release.
The bill includes $200 million in tax relief for small businesses and farmers and $700 million for transportation, the news release states. It also includes $5 million for the Plymouth Creek Center expansion project, as well as another $4 million toward the Wayzata Boardwalk Lake Effect project.
“While the bill was far from perfect, it contains much needed investments across our state, including vital funding to higher education – $90 million for Minnesota State, and over $75 million for the University of Minnesota,” State Sen. Paul Anderson (R-Plymouth), the chair of the Senate Higher Education Committee, said in the news release.
Public safety is key in the supplemental budget portion of the bill, according to the news release. The bill reimburses law enforcement for their work during the riots in Minneapolis this summer and includes a pay raise for state troopers.
