Langemo Selected as Brooklyn Center’s New Director of Equity and Human Resources
Following a recruitment and competitive selection process, the City of Brooklyn Center has selected Jim Langemo to be its new Director of Equity and Human Resources. City Manager Dr. Reginald Edwards noted that, “the city is committed to becoming an even more diverse, inclusive and equitable employer” and as director of the Office of Community Equity & Human Resources, Langemo will be responsible for partnering with leaders across the city to collaboratively build upon and execute a long-term vision for organizational training and development, racial equity and human resources, and community engagement functions. This position reports directly to the City Manager.
Langemo has been in the HR field for more than two decades and involved in DEI work for more than fifteen years, helping build award-winning programs and transforming organizations. Langemo comes to Brooklyn Center after being the chief administrative officer at Hennepin Theatre Trust for almost seven years. Prior to joining Hennepin Theatre Trust, Langemo worked for Best Buy for 18 years.
“The greatest asset of Brooklyn Center are its people who work for the city. Their selection, growth and development is paramount to the success of the city,” said Edwards. Langemo will begin employment with the City of Brooklyn Center on December 13, 2022.
Langemo is the lead singer in a band and a multi-instrumentalist. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from Moorhead State University in Minnesota.
